Lucille Martin Obituary

WILLIE LUCILLE (WILSON) MARTIN, age 92 of Clanton, passed away on January 20, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Chilton County on October 11, 1933; the daughter of the late Will Wilson and the late Elizabeth “Lizzy” Giles Wilson.

Lucille was a hardworking and independent woman whose life was marked by dedication to family, business, and community. For more than 50 years, she was the owner and operator of Martin Trailer Court in Clanton. Through her work, she helped countless families secure a place to live, often extending kindness, understanding, and support far beyond what was required.

In addition, Lucille was the longtime owner and operator of the Central Alabama Cloth Barn in Clanton. Her business was well known throughout the community and reflected her strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to serving others.

Lucille was known for her strength, determination, and willingness to help those in need. She took pride in her work and in the legacy she built through years of perseverance and care for others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Martin; her son, Henry Clay Martin; her parents, Will Wilson and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Giles Wilson; six brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Clarence) Ward of Clanton; her grandchildren, Kim Baker of Birmingham, Che Martin of Clanton, Shannon (Tony) Lawrence of Dallas, Texas, and Lacey (Shane) Thornton of Clanton; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee (Cole) Farris of Clanton, Megan (Zac) Zirkel of New Jersey, Rylee Thornton of Clanton, and Madison Thornton of Clanton; and her great-great-grandchildren, Liam Zirkel of New Jersey and Gunner Farris of Clanton.

A private family graveside service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in Clanton, Alabama, with Rev. Tony Christensen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Southern Care Hospice of Clanton, and to Annie Agee and Sherry Wyatt, for the compassionate care and support they provided to Lucille and her family.
