Mary Gay (Kirby) Castleberry

MARY GAY (KIRBY) CASTLEBERRY, age 88 of Maylene, passed away on May 16, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Fayette County, AL on July 28, 1935; the daughter of the late Brewer B. Kirby and the late Ellen Catherine Green Kirby.

She was a former cook and baker at the Piggly Wiggly in Montevallo. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She also loved to bake cakes for her family to enjoy.

She is survived by: Daughter, Darlene (Vance) White of Shelby; Son, Jerry (Sharon) Bice of Columbiana; Daughter, Sherry Owens of Calera; Son, Mike Bice of Maylene; 11 Grandchildren; 28 Great Grandchildren; and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by: Husband, Jean Castleberry; Parents, Brewer and Ellen Kirby; 3 Brothers; and 6 Sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11:00am from Amazing Grace Worship Center with Rev. Mark McGee officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Still Memorial Cemetery in Alabaster, AL.
