Mary Opal (Smith) Gothard

MARY OPAL (SMITH) GOTHARD, age 91 of Jemison, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 at Diversicare of Riverchase in Hoover, AL. She was born in Chilton County on August 12, 1932; the daughter of the late Joe Smith and the late Laura Posey Smith.

Opal was a lifelong member of the Mars Hill Baptist Church in Jemison.

She is survived by: Granddaughters, Dee (Darrell) Dutton and Holly (Zach) Wilson both of Jemison; Great Grandchildren: Harley Dutton, Journey Wilson, and Oakleigh Wilson; and Son-in-Law, Charles Hubbard of Jemison.

She is preceded in death by: Husband, Frank Gothard; Son, Greg Gothard; Daughter, Marilyn Hubbard; and Great Grandson, Zander Wilson.

A private family graveside will be held in the Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, AL.
