MARY ANN (WILLIAMS) HILYER, age 84 of Clanton, passed away on March 30, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Morgan County, AL on March 13, 1938; the daughter of the late Sherrill W. Williams and the late Thelma Lee Martin Williams.
She was a former operations lady in the banking industry. Her biggest and most influential role in life was that of a loving mother to her children and grandmother to her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Rev. Thomas E. Hilyer; serving alongside him as he pastored seventeen Southern Baptist churches in central Alabama. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and serving him faithfully.
She is survived by: Daughter, Ramona (Horace) Vincent of Clanton; Son, John (Tammy) Hilyer of Carrollton, TX; Son, Paul Hilyer of Clanton; Son, Matthew (Ginger) Hilyer of Jemison; Grandchildren: Layne Hilyer, Lesly Hamilton, Denise Miller, Shari Semrick, Brad Vincent, Ashlee Hilyer, and Harrison Hilyer; Adopted Son, Andy Roper of Clanton; Sister, Martha (Larry) Loveland of Helena; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: Husband, Rev. Thomas E. Hilyer; Parents, Sherrill and Thelma Williams; and Sister, Sherron Leigh Philyaw.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 6-8pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church No. 1.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00am from the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church No. 1 with Dr. Richard Trader officiating.
The body will be in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL.
