MICHAEL BLAKE MIMS, age 29 of Birmingham, passed away suddenly on June 5, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Selma, AL on June 8, 1990; the son of the late Michael Anthony Mims and Rebecca Lynn Farris Mims.
Blake was a 2008 graduate of Jemison High School. He worked as a cook at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He enjoyed his work there and loved to try new things in the kitchen. He especially loved it when those he worked with liked one of his creations.
He is survived by: Mother, Rebecca Mims of Birmingham; Step-Father, Otto “Pops” Cleckley of Clanton; Special Aunt and Uncle, Judy and Greg Marler of Jemison; Brother, Xaybion Corbin of Birmingham; Brother, Andy Marler of Jemison; Sister, April Castaing of Jemison; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: Father, Michael Anthony Mims; Sister, Misty Nicole Mims; Grandparents, Austin and Irene Farris; and Grandparents, Otis and Dovie Mims.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11:00am from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Barney Mims officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Refuge Baptist Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
