MILDRED ELIZABETH (BARNETT) HEADLEY, age 98 of Jemison, passed away on June 15, 2020 at Ahava Health and Rehabilitation in Alabaster, AL. She was born in Chilton County on November 18, 1921; the daughter of the late Austin Barnett and the late Bessie Sims Barnett.
Mildred was one of five children and grew up in the Jemison area. After high school, she worked as a telephone operator. She married Hoyt Headley in July of 1945. They lived in Birmingham for a while before returning to Jemison where she remained until her recent admission into Ahava Health and Rehabilitation in Alabaster.
She is survived by: Son, Allan Randall (Nelda) Headley of Thorsby; Son, Nicky (Kathy) Headley of Jemison; Son, Marty (Donna) Headley of Jemison; Daughter, Sherri (Barry) Wingard of Bismark, AR; Son, Dwane Headley of Jemison; 8 Grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: Husband, Hoyt Gaston Headley; Son, Gary Lynn Headley; Parents, Austin and Bessie Barnett; Brothers, Doyle Barnett and Donald Barnett; and Sisters, Bettie Smith and Thelma Cofer.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at 2:00pm in the Center Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, AL with Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.
