Minnie Varden Obituary

MINNIE LOYCE (PORTER) VARDEN, age 83, of Clanton, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Chilton County on June 18, 1942, the daughter of the late Onary Porter and the late Loyce Robinson Porter.

For many years, Minnie Loyce worked faithfully as a secretary with the State of Alabama Veteran’s Affairs Office. She was known for her dependability and her kind, steady spirit in everything she did.

Minnie Loyce had a special love for finding treasures in the simple things of life. She enjoyed antiquing, searching for bargains, and never passed up a good yard sale. She had a warm, friendly personality that drew people to her wherever she went.

She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Clyde, for nearly 65 years, and a loving mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Minnie Loyce was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She had a caregiver’s heart, always tending to the needs of others, including her own parents in their later years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clyde Varden of Clanton; daughters, Lisa V. Klinner of Jesup, GA; Tammy V. (Miles) Tracy of Clanton; Cindy V. Peters of Clanton; and Joni V. (Mike) Maliskey of Safe Harbor, FL; grandchildren, Cari Jo Patterson of Clanton, Holly Lipham of Bay Minette, Matthew Klinner of Silver Hill, Eric Mills of Clanton, and Jeremiah Rey of Jacksonville, NC; along with seven great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.

At Minnie Loyce’s request, a private family graveside service will be held in Pates Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, Alabama, with Rev. Eugene Atchison officiating.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers — Barbara Hatcher, Jimmie Kizziah, and Patricia Glenn — for the care, compassion, and love they so graciously provided.

“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” – Proverbs 31:26 (KJV)
