Nelda Kay (Mahan) Baker

NELDA KAY (MAHAN) BAKER, age 80 of Clanton, passed away on August 29, 2021 at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, AL. She was born in Chilton County on February 20, 1941; the daughter of the late Floyd Mahan and the late Marie McCary Mahan.

She was a former clerk at CVS and was also a seamstress.

She is survived by: Daughter, Susan Sims of Clanton; Son, Sammy Baker of Clanton; Granddaughter, Chrissy Aparicio of Clanton; Grandson, Casey Holley of Ft. Bragg, NC; Great Grandchildren: Rosa Aparicio of Clanton, Melanie Aparicio of Clanton, Susanna Holley of Ft. Bragg, NC, and Casandra Holley of Ft. Bragg, NC; and Sister, Nina Elaine Smitherman of Clanton.

She is preceded in death by: Husband, Van Baker.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton, AL with Rev. Thurmond Cleckler officiating.

There will be no visitation.

The family request no flowers, but encourage memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham.
