Patricia Ann (Pierce) Cooedy, age 76 of Verbena, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026 at Hatley Healthcare in Clanton, Alabama. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama on September 3, 1949, and was the beloved daughter of the late Jesse Pierce and the late Carolyn Deason Pierce.
Patricia was a well-known and beloved member of her community, having faithfully owned and operated Enterprise Grocery for many years. Through her kindness, warm conversations, and welcoming spirit, she formed countless friendships with those who walked through the doors of her store. To many, Enterprise Grocery was more than just a business — it was a gathering place where Patricia’s friendly smile and caring heart made everyone feel at home.
Outside of her work, Patricia found great joy in caring for her beloved dogs and especially enjoyed raising Chihuahuas, which brought her much happiness through the years. She also loved sports and could often be found cheering on her favorite baseball and football teams, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide, whom she faithfully supported.
Patricia will be remembered for her independent spirit, her love for her community, and the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Carolyn Pierce.
A memorial service celebrating Patricia’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. from the chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Jones officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Ellison Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton, Alabama.
