Patty Headley Obituary

PATTY DEAN (PERRY) HEADLEY, affectionately known as “Granny,” age 89 of Clanton, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 20, 2025. She was born in Maplesville, Alabama on July 25, 1936, the daughter of the late Jasper Frank Perry and Verdie Mae King Perry.

Patty was a devoted military wife to her late husband, E.J. Headley, and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the sweet aroma of her cooking. She had a gift for making people feel loved in simple but lasting ways—whether through a plate of her homemade food, a listening ear, or a word of encouragement. If someone enjoyed a dish she made, she was sure to prepare a special one just for them—often delivered by her family with love. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, and her table was always open to family and friends alike.

She faithfully attended Friendship Baptist Church in Clanton for many years, and in her later years worshiped with her family at Lomax Assembly of God in Clanton. Her life was a testimony of service, faith, and love for others.

She is survived by her son, Van (Joyce) Headley of Clanton; daughter, Pam (Joseph) Teel of Clanton; daughter-in-law, Lynn Headley of Birmingham; grandchildren: Justin (Laura) Headley, Blake (Christina) Headley, Briar (Allison) Teel, Dylan (Marlyn) Teel, and Joshua (MacKenzie) Headley; great-grandchildren: Carson Gore, Madison Headley, Emmett Headley, Ava Headley, Lukas Headley, Evy Ruth Headley, and Joseph Emmett “Jet” Teel; sister, Jo Ann Sims of Maplesville; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, E.J. Headley; son, Ken Headley; parents, Frank and Verdie Mae Perry; sisters, Sara Blackmon, Vivian Bice, and Kathleen Davis; her twin sister, Peggy Porter; and brother, Frank Perry.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Edwards and Rev. Erron Price officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville, Alabama.

The family respectfully asks that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lomax Assembly of God Children’s or Youth Ministry in Clanton.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Hatley Healthcare and Rehab, Sun Crest Home Health, Southern Care Hospice, Barbara Grace, and Christina Headley for the care they provided over the past several months.

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” – Proverbs 31:28
