Peggy Louise (Cost) Marcus

PEGGY LOUISE (COST) MARCUS, age 88 of Thorsby, passed away on February 13, 2024 at Shelby Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Alabaster, AL. She was born in Chilton County on July 14, 1935; the daughter of the late Otis Vernon Cost and the late Carrie Mae Rutherford Cost.

Peggy had a remarkable 45-year career with Regions Bank. She spent many hours serving in various capacities around Chilton County. She was known for her excellent ability to raise monies as well as awareness for so many needed charities. Peggy served on various city and county boards as a voice for the people. She was nominated as Citizen of the Year for her concern, compassion, and loyalty. She was respected by everyone. She will be remembered as an enthusiastic activist! Peggy was a faithful and devoted member of Thorsby First Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Everyone knew Peggy! She was loved and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by: Husband, Glenn Hayes Marcus; Daughter, Janet Beverly Marcus Brasher; Grandson, Johnathan Glenn Brasher; Parents, Otis Vernon and Carrie Mae Cost; Sisters, Vernette Cost Powell and Faye Cost Powell; and Brothers, Gene Cost and Lamar Cost.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 2:00pm from Thorsby First Baptist Church with Rev. J. Aaron Ellison and Rev. Jason Green officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the senior adult ministry of Thorsby First Baptist Church.
