Ray Quincy Connell, 21 Sep 1934 – 18 Sep 2023, of Brent, AL has
gone on to be with his Lord. He was a beloved husband, father,
brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and great-grandfather and
friend to all in his community. He was a 20-year USAF veteran
and retiree. He served our country defending democracy and our
freedom during the Viet Nam conflict. He was a devoted
Christian serving as deacon, Sunday School teacher and music
leader at Centreville Church of Christ. He was also a dedicated
family man who deeply loved his wife and entire family.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Mack and Annie
Connell of Lomax, AL, brothers Lamar, Jimmy Lee, Harold, and
Jerry and sisters Mettis and Joy; sons Richard Allen and Gary
Keith.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bobbie Tyus Connell, son
Mark (Tamy), daughter-in-law Kris, brothers Paul (Glenda) and Roy (Patti), sister-in-
law Cathy, six grandchildren: Jarad, Daraj, Blake, Drake, Keslie and Kyla; 11 great-
grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Home-going celebration and service conducted by Ellison
Memorial Funeral Home of Clanton will be held at Brent Baptist
Church on Thursday, 21 Sep 2023 (his birthday!) at 3pm. Family
visitation will be at the church from 1:30-2pm, friends and
neighbors from 2-3pm. He will be interred at Pineland Memorial
Park in Centreville. Centreville Baptist church is graciously
serving the family lunch at noon.
