REV. JAMES ALFRED “JIM” OTTS, age 79 of Jemison, passed away on December 28, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Fairfield, AL on March 28, 1940; the son of the late Shirley Alfred Otts and the late Alpha Marie Otts.

Jim retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army with 21 and a half years of honorable service. In that time, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroic actions in Vietnam.

After his military career, he served as a pastor for over 30 years. He pastored churches in North Carolina, Nevada, and Alabama.

He is survived by: Wife of over 58 years, Ruby Jean Otts of Jemison; Daughter, Ruby Marie Otts of Jemison; Daughter, Robin Lynn Rollins of Independence, KY; Son, James Mitchell (Jenn) Otts of Hartford; Daughter, Rachel Jane (Keith) Miller of Arnold, MO; 6 Grandchildren; and 1 Great Grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 1:00pm from the Lomax First Baptist Church in Clanton with Rev. Don Graham officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial with full military honors will follow the service at 2:45pm at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
