Rev. James Douglas Scott

REV. JAMES DOUGLAS SCOTT, age 79 of Thorsby, passed away on January 8, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Chilton County on June 28, 1944; the son of the late James Grady Scott and the late Gladys Willodean Pate Scott.

Douglas loved his family beyond measure and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed the outdoors where he would go fishing and camping. Most of all, Douglas loved his Lord Jesus Christ. He proclaimed the Gospel and good news of Christ for nearly 40 years as pastor of the Faith Full Gospel Church in Jemison.

He is survived by: Wife, Peggy Scott of Thorsby; Son, Kim (Dana) Scott of Thorsby; Daughter, Rachel (Larry) Jones of Jemison; Grandchildren: Larry Jones, Jr., Mark Scott, and Jordan Jones; Sister, Dorothy (Phillip) Brown of Thorsby; Sister, Teresa Adams of Thorsby; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: Daughter, Inf. Peggy Scott; Father, Grady Scott; Mother, Willodean Scott; Sister, Louise Ray; and Sister, Gladys Miller.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 5-8pm at Faith Full Gospel Church located at 1435 County Road 231 Jemison, AL 35085.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00am from Faith Full Gospel Church with Rev. Steve Chance and Rev. Jeff Logan officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pates Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.
