Rita Jean (Champion) Cleckler

RITA JEAN (CHAMPION) CLECKLER, age 58 of Maplesville, passed away on August 2, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. She was born in Jefferson County, AL on April 22, 1966; the daughter of the late David Eugene Champion and the late Carolyn Ann Jones Champion.

She was a former CAN and bus driver. Rita will be remembered for her sweet demeanor and always being there for anyone who needed her. She always helped people and could never say no to lending a helping hand. She loved her family immensely. Her absolute love was caring for her grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

She is survived by: Daughter, Caralyn (Douglas) Mims of Clanton; Daughter, Kayla Cleckler of Maplesville; Grandchildren: Anna Claire Mims, Zach Cleckler, Owen Mims, and Hunter Cleckler; Sister, Linda (Larry) Smith of Maplesville; Brother, Neal (Shannon) Champion of Clanton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: Husband, Jimmy W. Cleckler; Father, David (Linda) Champion; Mother, Carolyn Ann Champion; and Sister, Peggy Lee Champion.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 6:00pm from Lomax Assembly of God with Rev. Erron Price officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
