ROBERT BUREL ALEXANDER, age 63 of Calera, passed away on October 14, 2025, at Baptist Health Shelby Hospital in Alabaster, Alabama.
He was born in Jefferson County on May 20, 1962, the son of the late Burble “Bud” Alexander and Annie Mae Blackston Alexander.
Robert devoted his life to service and to the people around him. He spent his career as a law enforcement dispatcher — a role that requires patience, composure, and compassion in the most trying moments. Throughout his years with the Hale County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Montevallo, and most recently the City of Calera, he earned the respect of his peers for his steady voice and calm hand in crisis. To those who called on him, he was often the reassuring presence on the other end of the line, offering order in the midst of chaos.
Away from work, Robert’s passions reflected his heart and his heritage. His love for classic cars began in his youth, working alongside his father in Bud’s Automotive, where he learned the value of hard work, craftsmanship, and family pride. That same sense of history carried into another lifelong interest — genealogy. Robert had a deep desire to understand and preserve his family’s story, spending countless hours researching and documenting generations gone by. It was more than a hobby to him; it was a way to keep his family’s legacy alive for those who would come after.
To his family, Robert was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal son and brother. His quiet strength, sharp wit, and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Sumer (Jacob) Reid of Calera and Jessica Alexander of Cottondale; grandsons, Westin Lemley of Calera and Jared Strong of Calera; granddaughters, Kassidy Reid of Calera and Kayleigh Lemley of Cottondale; mother, Annie Alexander of Calera; brother, John Thomas Alexander of Calera; and nephews, Justin (Casey) Alexander of Clanton and Josh (Breanna) Alexander of Thorsby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Burble “Bud” Alexander.
