Roy Austin Jones

ROY AUSTIN JONES, age 81 of Clanton, passed away on October 10, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Birmingham, AL. He was born in Chilton County on February 21, 1939; the son of the late John Hardy Jones and the late Doshie Dykes Jones.

He was a former woodworker who enjoyed working and crafting wood. He was employed for over 40 years at Lane’s Red Barn in Clanton. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for many years.

He is survived by: Daughter, Cynthia Jones (Jimmy) Foshee of Thorsby; Son, Gary (Dena) Jones of Maplesville; Daughter, Sharon Jones Barefield of Montevallo; Son, Mark (Laura) Jones of Thorsby; Grandsons: Josh (Emily) Lett, Chad (Robin) Foshee, Scott Gentry, and Austin (Heather) Jones; Granddaughters: Jessica (Jeremy) Taylor, Holly (Jonathan) Payne, and Josie (Grant) Hester; and 7 Great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his Wife, Wilma Catherine Jones.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 11:00am in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Verbena, AL with Rev. Gary Jones and Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.

The family request no flowers, but encourage a memorial contribution in Roy’s memory be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church 6454 County Road 24 Verbena, AL 36091.
