STEPHEN ALVIN CROUCH, age 66 of Clanton, passed away on December 30, 2023 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. He was born in Tripoli, Libia on March 24, 1957; the son of the late Burless Crouch and the late Jeanette McCartney Crouch.
Stephen’s father was serving in the Air Force at the time of his birth and therefore he was a self-professed “Air Force Brat.” He attended school in Selma, AL and later transferred to upstate New York where he graduated from North Tonawanda High School. He worked a stent as a machinist with Riely Gear in NY. He went on to establish a 25-year career and retire as a correctional officer with the state of New York. Stephen loved to play football and golf. He also enjoyed the outdoors where he would spend time hunting. He met his beautiful wife, Shelley, in 2013 and the two were married on August 8, 2014. The two would purchase a home and move to Alabama in August of 2022.
He is survived by: Wife, Shelley Crouch of Clanton; Son, Matt (Anna) Crouch of Clarence, NY; Son, Chris (Kaitlyn) Crouch of New Middleton, OH; Stepsons: Robert (Danielle) Larsh of Deltona, FL, Bradlee Larsh of Deltona, FL, Jeremy (Andrea) Wisniewski of Tonawanda, NY, and Josh (Eileen) Wisniewski of Poughkipsy, NY; 12 Grandchildren; Brother, Roger (Dawn) Crouch of Tonawanda, NY; Sister, Valarie (Steve) Wudyka of Port Orange, FL; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Billy Wyatt officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the New Life Assembly of God Cemetery in Maplesville, AL.
