Suzanne (McGowan) Sanchez

SUZANNE (McGOWAN) SANCHEZ, age 62 of Clanton, passed away suddenly on January 24, 2026 at her residence. She was born in Jefferson County, Alabama on January 13, 1964; the daughter of the late Charles Herman McGowan and the late Eva Nell Blackston McGowan.

Suzanne was a former security guard and was known by all who knew her as a kind and giving person who would do anything for anyone. She lived life with joy, laughter, and a warm heart that touched those around her. She enjoyed cooking and treasured the time she spent with her beloved dogs, Blue and Lily.

Suzanne shared a special bond with her brother-by-choice, Red Buckler, whom she affectionately considered her “ride or die.” Above all else, she loved her husband, Mauricio, with all of her heart. Her grandchildren were her world, and she found her greatest happiness in time spent with them.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mauricio Tun Sanchez of Clanton; her son, Shane Howard of Tennessee; her daughter, Amanda Cox of Pleasant Grove; her grandchildren, Bella, Jonathan, Nikki, and Jasmine; her brother-by-choice, Red Buckler; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Charles Herman McGowan and Eva Nell Blackston McGowan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Green officiating.

Burial will follow in Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton, Alabama.
