TED LARRY GILES, age 80 of the Mineral Springs Community in Jemison, passed away on February 15, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Chilton County on March 16, 1939; the son of the late Hershel Giles and the late Pauline Robinson Giles.
Ted was a 1958 graduate of Chilton County High School. He worked as a maintenance man with Dan River Mills in Clanton. He later worked as a foreman with the Hiawassee Land Company. He went on to also work as a fuel man with the Chilton County Road Department. Ted was also a founding member of the Union Grove Fire and Rescue Department where he served his community for many years.
He is survived by: Wife, Joyce Ann Giles of Jemison; Daughter, Tammy (William) Irvin of Maplesville; Son, Timothy Giles of Jemison; Grandson, Zachary Giles of Birmingham; Brother, Ray (Joanne) Giles of Clanton; Sister-in-Law, Linda Giles of Mobile; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, Hershel and Pauline Giles; and Brother, Kenneth Giles.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 6-8pm at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Jason Green and Rev. Thurmond Cleckler officiating.
Burial will follow in the Union Grove Community Cemetery in Jemison, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Mineral Springs Baptist Church 8316 County Road 51 Clanton, AL 35046.
