THOMAS MONROE JACKSON, age 89 of Thorsby, passed away on March 2, 2025 at Baptist Health Shelby Hospital in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Dallas County on February 27, 1936; the son of the late Furmer Worthington Jackson and the late Bertha Alice Smitherman Jackson.
He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He would go on to have a career as a truck driver. He loved his trucks and found great joy in later years being able to take his grandchildren on over-the-road trips with him. When not on the road trucking, he loved to farm. He also loved the outdoors where he spent time hunting and fishing.
He is survived by: Daughter, Martha Langston of Birmingham; Daughter, Mireen Gothard of Clanton; Daughter, Mary (Wayne) Spurgeon of Alpine; Daughter, Marsha (Ben) Price of Jemison; Daughter, Marie (Lee) Woodard of Trussville; Son, Tommy Jackson of Las Vegas, NV; Daughter, Sherry Jackson of Thorsby; 14 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great Grandchildren; Brother, Mack Jackson of Northport; and Sister, Mireen Waddell of Sumpter, SC.
He is preceded in death by: Wife, Sharon Jackson; Great Granddaughter, Hayden Kromer; Daughter-in-Law, April Jackson; Parents, F.W. and Alice Jackson; and 7 Siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Shannon officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial with military honors will follow in the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby, AL.
