THOMAS NEWTON “TOMMY” THOMPSON, age 80 of Clanton, passed away on January 17, 2023 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. He was born in Chilton County on September 2, 1942; the son of the late Paul Thompson and the late Minnie Pearl Rhodes Thompson.
He was a former switchboard operator with Alabama Power Company.
He is survived by: Daughter, Jamie Davis of Clanton; Daughter, Leslie Thompson of Clanton; Grandchildren: Kyle Davis, Sara Davis, Jalen Thompson, and Isabella Wyatt; Sister, Ann Baker of Clanton; Sister, Linda Willis of Clanton; and Sister, Cathy Taylor of Orange Beach.
He is preceded in death by: Wife, Barbara Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, from 9:30am until 10:30am at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.
A graveside service will follow at 11:00am in the Mt. Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Clanton, AL with Rev. Thurmond Cleckler officiating.
