TRAVIS WAYNE “PETE” GRIMES, age 63 of Vincent, passed away suddenly on March 8, 2026 in Sterrett, AL. He was born in Pell City, AL on December 23, 1962; the son of the late J.B. Grimes and the late Brenda Kaye Kelley Grimes.
Pete worked for many years as a welder, a trade that suited his hardworking nature and strong hands. He took pride in his work and the friendships he made along the way. Outside of work, Pete enjoyed the simple things in life that brought him happiness. He was a devoted fan of Alabama football and rarely missed an opportunity to watch the Crimson Tide play. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races and spending time listening to his favorite metal and rock music, which was always playing somewhere nearby.
Above all, Pete loved his family. Time spent with his children and grandchildren meant the most to him, and he treasured the moments they shared together. He will be remembered for his straightforward spirit, his love of music and racing, and the place he held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by: Daughter, April Grimes of Vincent; Son, Bret Grimes of Birmingham; Daughter, Clara Collum of Jasper; Daughter, Kristi Grimes of Guntersville; 5 Grandchildren: Hannah, Colby, Kynlee, Ryder “Herm”, and Avery; Sister, Shannon (Keith) Coggins of Shelby; and Brother, Jamie (JoAnn) Grimes of Columbiana.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, J.B. and Brenda Kaye Grimes; and Brother, Danny Grimes.
