Wallace Varden

WALLACE VARDEN, age 82 of Clanton, passed away on December 5, 2025 at UAB St. Vincent Hospital in Birmingham, AL after a brief illness. He was born in Chilton County on May 18, 1943; the son of the late Odis Varden and the late Lurleen Ellison Varden.

Wallace was a construction superintendent for most of his life. He enjoyed spending time visiting family members and spending time with his grandchildren. Wallace came to know the Lord later in life, and we are comforted knowing he is in the presence of his Savior.

He is survived by: Son, Chace (Rhonda) Varden of Clanton; Daughter, Christy (Allen) Gray of Jemison; 5 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; and sisters: Doris Maddox of Clanton, Helen Varden of Knoxville, TN, and Cathy Tracy of Clanton.

He is preceded in death by: Wife, Linda Varden; Parents, Odis and Lurleen Varden; Brothers: George Varden, Renfroe Varden, Junior Varden, and Jackie Varden; and Sisters, Shirley Smitherman and Betty Hughes.

In accordance with Wallace’s request, cremation will take place and his cremains inurned at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Thorsby, AL. No services are scheduled.
