WANDA LEE (HORTON) JONES, of Jemison, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, in Jemison. She was born on September 22, 1946, in Shelby County, Alabama.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Wanda was known for her gentle spirit and generous heart. She was a retired registered nurse whose compassion extended far beyond the hospital walls. Wanda had a deep love for gardening and spent countless hours tending her vegetables and flowers. She was especially fond of “olde tyme” blooms and always delighted in watching hummingbirds flutter among them. True to her giving nature, she often shared the bounty of her garden with friends, neighbors, and those in need.
Wanda is survived by her sons: Jason Wayne (Natalie) Jones, Joseph Charles Jones, and Jarrod Carl Jones; her grandchildren: Kaylie Ashton (Jarret) Brown and Jordan (Denton) Jones; and her great-grandchildren: Caroline Elizabeth Brown, Claire Jones, and Case Jones. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Horton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Union Springs Baptist Church in Randolph, AL.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Lowery officiating.
Burial will follow at Whispering Pines Cemetery in Jemison, AL.
Wanda will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for her love of nature, her kind heart, and the quiet way she gave so much to others.
