WILLIAM GREGORY “HOWDY” DAVENPORT, age 64 of Clanton, passed away on April 7, 2023 at his residence after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Burbank, IL on February 7, 1959; the son of the late William Harry Davenport and the late Edna E. Staggs Davenport.
Greg was affectionately known as “Howdy” by those close to him. Greg graduated from Trenholm State as a paramedic. He went on to have a career spanning 32 years. During the course of his career he served at Hanks Ambulance Service, Chilton County Ambulance Service, Regional Paramedic Services (RPS), and Southeast Shelby Rescue. He also served a stent as an industrial medic with International Paper Company in Selma. Greg enjoyed flying and loved spending time at the naval air station in Pensacola, FL. He was also an avid Alabama football fan.
He is survived by: Wife, Amanda H. Davenport of Clanton; Sister, Betty Tidwell of Clanton; Father-in-Law, Michael (Kay) Headley of Colorado Springs, CO; Mother-in-Law, Becky Grevas of Chelsea; Brother-in-Law, Lloyd (Jenny) Lively of Baytown, TX; Brother-in-Law, Andrew Headley of Colorado Springs, CO; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
