William "Bill" Edward Phillips, Sr.

WILLIAM EDWARD “BILL” PHILLIPS, SR., age 72 of Jemison, passed away on July 1, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Charleston, WV on March 28, 1952; the son of the late William Phillips and the late Margaret Virginia Bainbridge Phillips.

Bill honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corp with service during the Gulf War. He retired as a Master Sergeant with various awards and medals for his dedicated service. He loved the opportunity to serve his beloved country. Later in life, Bill enjoyed spending time fishing and found his passion for woodworking. He would spend countless hours constructing birdhouses that he would in turn give away to people he knew and came in contact with. He loved his family and his grandchildren were his world.

He is survived by: Wife, Julie Ann Phillips of Jemison; Son, William E. (Samantha) Phillips, Jr. of Calera; Son, Daniel C. (Melissa) Phillips of Jemison; Granddaughter, Anabella Phillips of Calera; Grandson, Liam Phillips of Calera; Granddaughter, Skylar Stevens of Jemison; Sister, Carol Beecher of Temple City, CA; Sister, Patricia Kane of Barstow, CA; Brother, Charles (Brenda) Walker of Dobson, NC; and a host of other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and Brother, Thomas Lee Phillips.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 4:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial with full Marine Corp honors will take place on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:15am in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.

The family request no flowers, but encourages donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Bill’s memory.
