William "Buddy" Franklin Motes

WILLIAM FRANKLIN “BUDDY” MOTES, age 84 of Montevallo, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 28, 2024 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Calhoun County, AL on April 11, 1940; the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Motes and the late Ruth Helen Wallace Motes.

Buddy retired from the construction field where he worked as a carpenter in commercial building. He was employed for 38 years with Taylore Miree Construction where he was a superintendent. He was a longtime member of Enon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, R.A. Leader, and choir member. Buddy loved the Lord and loved to sing, especially solos. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His favorite pastimes were watching westerns and fishing.

He is survived by: Loving Wife of 64 years, Patti Motes; Son, Dale Motes; Daughter, Jeanise (James) Frost; Grandchildren: Jill (Steve) Browning, Janet (Jeremy) Butler, James (Heather) Frost, Ramond Delany, and Jeffrey Delany; Great Grandchildren: Kayla Butler, Trevor Butler, Cam Frost, Clay Frost, John Delany, Landon Delany, Riley Delany, Georgia Delany, Davely Delany, Aubrey Delany, and Rose Emery; Siblings: Annie Ruth Rust, Bob Motes, Benny Motes, Frankie (Rod) English, Benjamin “June Bug” Motes, Dimples (Shorty) Kanipe, Linda Motes, and Joyce Motes; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: Infant Son, Danny Motes; Parents, Benjamin Franklin Motes and Ruth Helen Motes; Sisters, Betty Faye Blythe and Susie Gail Terry; and Brothers, Ralph Motes and Ricky Motes.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00am from Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Traywick and Rev. Greg Ragland officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Enon Baptist Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
