WOODROW WILSON HUNTER, age 101 of Clanton, passed away on May 28, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Dallas County on September 24, 1918.
Woodrow honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and received 5 Bronze Stars for his heroic actions during his service. He became a painter by trade. He enjoyed the outdoors by farming and working in his fields.
He is survived by: Grandsons: Rodney Pairrett of Clanton, Robert (Tammy) Pairrett of Clanton, Tim Pairrett of Clanton, and Mike Hill of Hoover; Granddaughters, Sharman (Tim) Thomas of Clanton and Millie (Vence) Baker of Clanton; and Special Friend, Lucille Martin of Clanton.
He is preceded in death by: Wife, Clara Downing Hunter; Daughter, Sandra Hunter Chapman; and several siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Ernest Fike officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
