KENNETH JUDSON “JUD” MESSER, JR, age 54 of Verbena, passed away on May 12, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on March 19, 1964; the son of the late Kenneth Judson Messer, Sr. and the late Mary Ann Wyatt Messer.
He was a jeweler but also took on the role of Santa in the last few years. He was a man that had a genuine care and concern for the people that he came in contact with on a daily basis. Jud’s life mission was to make others smile. He will always be affectionately remembered as Chilton County’s very own, Santa.
He is survived by: Wife, Tammy Messer; Sister, Ann Messer (Tommy) Glasscock; Niece, Morgan (Hunter) Eason; Niece, Lynsie Glasscock; Great-Niece, Elizabeth Eason; Great-Niece, Emalyn Eason; Aunts, Faye (Ronnie) Howell, Elizabeth (Robert) Chambers, and Betty Trammell; Uncle, Hollis Messer; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Mary Ann Messer.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from the Clanton First United Methodist Church at 2:00pm with Rev. Tony Hughes, Rev. Wes Kelley, and Rev. Meghan Kelley officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
There will be a scattering service held by the family at a later date.
The family request no flowers, please make donations to the Chilton County Humane Society.
