Nancy Jean Brooks Dovey, age 75 of Clanton passed away on September 12, 2018 Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. She was born on June 12, 1943 in Detroit, MI; the daughter of the late Arthur Brooks and the late Dorothy Biehn Brooks.
She was a former secretary.
Nancy attended Clanton First United Methodist Church faithfully and was a committed follower of Jesus Christ. She participated in several ministries including Sunday School and small groups. She helped to lead several mission trips to Guatemala and was very involved in Emmaus and especially the prison ministry of Kairos. She loved and was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Her life was an inspiration to those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Dovey of Clanton; Sons, Rev, Brian (Linda) Dovey of Camden, AL and Scott (Liz) Dovey of Ft. Myers, FL; Grandchildren, Renee Dovey of Atlanta, GA, Justin Dovey of Ocala, FL, Elizabeth (Matthew) Colson of Montevallo, AL; and Ryan (Kai) Dovey of Baltimore, MD; Great-Grandchildren, Lily Dovey of Baltimore, MD and Jack Colson of Montevallo, AL; and Sisters, Barbara (Arnold) Otto of Virginia Beach, VA and Janet Rorabacher of Jackson, MI.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Dorothy Brooks; Son, Craig Dovey; and Granddaughter, Eve Dovey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 12:00pm from the Helen E. Parrish Activity Center of Clanton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wes Kelley and Rev. Meghan Kelley officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Clanton First United Methodist Church Missions’ Committee in her memory.
