Ada Odean (Mims) Popwell

ADA ODEAN MIMS POPWELL, age 74 of Clanton, passed away on December 22, 2018 at Shelby ridge Nursing and Rehab in Alabaster, AL. She was born in Chilton County on December 17, 1944; the daughter of the late James Albert Mims and the late Laura Sanders Mims.

She worked in the fields, but preferred the dry cleaning industry.

Odean lived a rich and full life always surrounded by the family and friends she cherished. She dedicated her life to making a better life for her parents, husband, sons, and granddaughters.

Even after diabetes took much of her freedom, she continued to try to help her neighbors and friends in times of sorrow and need. Those same people offered help and comfort which helped make the end more bearable.

The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice, Ariel, Celestie, Judy, Sharon, and all who made her more comfortable.

She is survived by: Husband of 54 years, Johnnie Popwell, Jr. of Clanton; Son, Robert “Eugene” Popwell of Clanton; son, Raymond “Oneal” Popwell of Alabaster; and Grandaughters, Cassie Nicole Popwell and Laken Rae Popwell both of Clanton.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Albert and Laura Mims and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. Don Graham officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton, AL.
