Donny Michael Smith

DONNY MICHAEL SMITH, age 71 of Pelham, passed away on August 24, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Fayette County on August 15, 1949; the son of the late Grady Smith and the late Bernice Pickens Smith.

Donny was a foreman with Asplundh Tree Service with 42 years of service.

He is survived by: Wife, Cathey Wells Smith of Pelham; Daughter, Dawn (Chris) Maniscalco of Pelham; Son, Dewayne Smith of Pell City; Son, Frankie (Kim) Roberson of Shelby; Son, David Roberson of Columbiana; Grandchildren: Emily Day of Enterprise, Sara Roberson of Shelby, Gaige Roberson of Las Vegas, NV, Devin Smith of Mosinee, WI, Myra Smith of Pell City, Ellee Maniscalco of Pelham, and Easton Maniscalco of Pelham; Sister, Harriett Knight of Kennedy; Brother, Bobby (Sarah) Smith of Moody; Brother, Mitchell Smith of Kennedy; Brother, Jimmy Smith of Tuscaloosa; and Brother, Phillip Smith of Tuscaloosa.

He is preceded in death by: Parents, Grady and Bernice Smith; Brother, Billie Ed Smith; and Brother, Tony Smith.

Donny leaves behind his best buddies, his two chihuahuas, Ringo and Rambo who he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Kelly officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Old Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, AL.

The family would like to express thanks to Comfort Care Hospice of Pelham, especially his nurse Lisa for the care they provided for Donny. They would also like to express thanks to his caregiver, Keessa, for the care that she provided.
