Jack Edwin Pate

JACK EDWIN PATE, age 77 of Thorsby, passed away on May 12, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was bornin Chilton County on August 3, 1943; the son of the late John Hollis Pate and the late Myrtle Irene Tolbert Pate.

Jack was a family man who was proud of his family, and they were the focus of his life. He had a vast knowledge of things that he loved to share with family and friends. His sense of humor and smooth talking made him a friend to many. Prior to beginning a 17 year battle with COPD, Jack enjoyed the outdoors where he fished, coon, hunted, and grew a large garden. He also enjoyed teaching Bible studies. Jack honorably served his country in the United States Air Force early in life. His career as an electrician with Alabama Power Company took him to many of the hydroelectric dams, and he was exceptionally proud of his work there. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would watch for them to come home from school, and they enjoyed watching TV with him.

He is survived by: Wife, Linda Moates Pate of Thorsby; Daughter, Monica Linn Pate of Thorsby; Daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie Pooh” Danyelle (Jeff) Pate of Thorsby; Grandson, Brandon Keith (Miranda) Pate of Thorsby; Granddaughter, Bailey Nicole Ray of Auburn; Great Granddaughter, Brinleigh Klaire Pate of Thorsby; Great Grandson, Karter Brooks Pate of Thorsby; and Great Granddaughter, Makenna Rena Pate of Thorsby.

He is preceded in death by: Parents, John Hollis and Myrtle Irene Pate; and Brother, Joe Alvin Pate.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton with Rev. David Warren officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Collins Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, AL.
