John Barrett Obituary

 

JOHN DOUGLAS BARRETT, age 82 of Thorsby, passed away on March 28, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Chilton County on March 5, 1938; the son of the late Freddie Eldridge Barrett and the late Mattie D. Collins Barrett.

He was a former industrial painter.

He is survived by: Wife, Norma Jean Barrett of Thorsby; Daughter, Kim (Chris) Dupree of Columbiana; Daughter, Teresa (Barry) Barnett of Thorsby; Grandsons, Jason (Amy) Barnett of Verbena and Hunter Barnett of Tampa, FL; Granddaughter, April Yeargan of Thorsby; Great Granddaughters, Lilly Barnett of Troy and Allie Yeargan of Columbiana; Great Grandsons, Brody Barnett and Brooks Barnett of Verbena; and Brothers, Lamar Barrett of Clanton and Milton Barrett of Calera.

He is preceded in death by: Granddaughter, Brook Yeargan; Parents, Fred and Mattie Barrett; Brother, Julius Barrett; and Sisters, Betty Payne, Ethelene Wyatt, and Willodean Moates.

No visitation will be held.

A family graveside service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 11:00am in the Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery in Jemison, AL with Rev. Roger Willis officiating.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance at the graveside will be restricted. The service will be livestreamed on the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home Facebook page for extended family and the general public.

The family request no flowers, please contribute to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
