JOSEPH HOWARD COKER, JR., age 75 of Clanton, passed away on March 6, 2021 at Oak Trace Nursing Home in Bessemer, AL. He was born in Daleville, AL on January 9, 1946; the son of the late Joseph Howard Coker, Sr. and the late Lois Kinsaul Cocker.
He was a former carpenter. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
He is survived by: Son, Joe (Melena) Lewellyn of Rowlett, TX; Daughter, Marie (Donnie) Barrett of Clanton; Grandchildren: Takara Lewellyn, Megan (David) Barrett, Taylor (Austin) Barrett, and Sam Adam Barrett; Sister, Libby Lee of Birmingham; Sister, Linda (Jack) Durkan of Cynthiana, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Howard, Sr. and Lois Coker.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 12:30pm in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL with Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating.
Due to federal regulations in regards to COVID-19, attendance at the service will be restricted.
The family request no flowers, but encourage a memorial contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project.
No visitation is scheduled.
