Lisa Anita (Hughes) Dawkins

LISA ANITA (HUGHES) DAWKINS, age 55 of Jemison, passed away on July 13, 2020 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL. She was born in Alabaster, AL on October 20, 1964; the daughter of the late Pete Gordon Hughes and Mary Ann Dennis Majors.

Lisa enjoyed the outdoors especially going to the creek and star gazing at night. She loved to garden. She was a happy person who always had a smile on her face no matter the situation. She was an avid Auburn fan as well and was sure to yell “War Eagle!”

She is survived by: Husband, Jerry L. Gilliland of Jemison; Daughter, Brandi Dawkins of Brierfield; Daughter, Brittany Dawkins of Jemison; Son, Terry Dawkins of Montgomery; Daughter, Tiffany (Robert) Hyde of Remlap; Son, Kevin (Jennifer) Gilliland of Foley; 5 Grandchildren; Mother, Ann (John) Majors of Maylene; and Brother, Stacey Majors of Jemison.

She is preceded in death by: Father, Pete Hughes; and Brother, Lorne Majors.

Visitation will be held at the Shelby Memory Gardens Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Calera on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 6-8pm.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 2:00pm from the Montevallo Church of God with Rev. Jeff Holsomback officiating.

The body will be in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Cemetery in Pea Ridge, AL.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera, AL.
