Marie (Connell) Mims

MARIE (CONNELL) MIMS, age 90 of Clanton, passed away suddenly on March 17, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Chilton County on February 9, 1934; the daughter of the late Tommy Connell and the late Rebecker Ballard Connell.

Marie retired from Keystone in Clanton after many years of service. She was an active member of New Hope Assembly of God where she worshipped and served for many years. She loved her family as well as her church family. She was affectionately called “Smiley” by many because of the smile that she always had. She was known simply as “MawMaw Mims” by many because of her caring and nurturing spirit.

She is survived by: Daughter, Ann King of Clanton; Sister, Judy (Bob) Carnes of Clanton; Granddaughters: Dawn (Bo) Dennis, Tina (Steve) Corley, and Kim (Brian) Smith; Grandsons: Johnny (Jena) Mims and Joey (Helen) Martin; Daughter-in-Law, Charlotte Mims of Clanton; and Great Grandchildren: Brandon Dennis, Justin Dennis, John Thomas Mims, Brody Mims, Jace Mims, Kenzi Mims, Kayden Mims, Kyla Corley, Mya Corley, Gage Corley, Truett Smith, Trey Smith, and Trendon Smith.

She is preceded in death by: Husband, Thomas Jr. Mims; Son, Eugene Mims; Daughter, Virginia (Moe) Bolton; Daughter, Carolyn (Eddie) Martin; Son-in-Law, John Zed King; Grandson, Kevin Bolton; Grandson, Waylon King; and Granddaughter, Amy Marie Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2:00pm from New Hope Assembly of God in Clanton, AL with Rev. Jeff Linholm and Rev. Austin Ball officiating.

Visitation will be held from 12:30pm until service time at the church.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Springs Cemetery in Clanton, AL.
