Richard Lewis Melton

RICHARD LEWIS MELTON, age 69 of Thorsby, passed away on April 10, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL. He was born in Mississippi on September 11, 1951; the son of the late Grady Lewis Melton and Dorothy Mae Simmons McCormick.

He was a former fleet manager and retiree of Alabama Power Company.

He is survived by: Wife, Teresa Melton of Thorsby; Daughter, Vanessa (Lucas) Dean of Reform; Daughter, Constance (Brandon) Evans of Thorsby; Grandchildren: Travis Dean, Elyse Dean, T.J. Evans, Heather Anne Evans, Liara Evans, and Abby Evans; Mother, Dorothy McCormick of Thorsby; Sister, Sue Thomas of Thorsby; and Sister, Ramona (Tom) Pierce of Thorsby.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Grady Melton.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the family has elected to hold a graveside service on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 10:00am in the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery in Thorsby, AL with Bro. David Evans officiating.

There will be no visitation. Everyone please gather at the cemetery at service time.

The family request in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the Chilton County Relay For Life benefiting the American Cancer Society.
