ROBERT EUGENE KIKER, JR., age 64 of Montevallo, passed away on October 11, 2021 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. He was born in Jefferson County, AL on August 8, 1957; the son of the late Robert Eugene Kiker, Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Milstead Kiker.
Rob began a career in public service in 1978 when he began as a dispatcher for the Calera Police Department. He would go on to attend the academy and become a policeman with the City of Calera. He went to work in 1985 with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. He would retire from the sheriff’s office in 2010 after 25 years of service as a deputy sheriff. During his career in public service, Rob worked as a paramedic with RPS Ambulance service out of Shelby County, then with Southeast Shelby Rescue. He also served as assistant chief at West Shelby Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by: Son, Brad (Lauren) Kiker of Westover; Son, Adam (Jordan) Kiker of Calera; Daughter, Kristie (Tyler) Sims of Calera; Daughter, Kimberly (Johnathan) Kiker of Montevallo; Daughter, Autumn Kiker of Montevallo; Grandchildren: Anna Margaret Kiker, Mykia Kiker, Paislee Kiker, Sadie Sickles, Riley Kiker, Wrenley Sims, and Killian Sims; and Sister, Mary Beth (Mark) Moses of Hoover.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 5-8pm at the Alabaster First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00am from the Alabaster First United Methodist Church with Rev. Terri Milstead officiating.
Burial with full firefighter honors will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Cemetery in Pea Ridge, AL.
