Tyler Patterson Obituary

BRANDON TYLER PATTERSON

Our beloved cowboy, golfer, Mississippi State cowbell-ringing, cattle-loving, plane-flying, mint Oreo-eating, black cowboy hat-wearing, God-fearing, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend Brandon Tyler Patterson (Tyler) flew into the arms of Jesus on January 17, 2023. Tyler was born on October 9, 1989 in Ft. Stewart, GA to Derick and Becky Patterson.  He spent his first 18 years of life in Clanton, AL where his cowboy career started as his maternal grandfather “Pop” was his cow-showing buddy, his dad taught him the skills of life on the family farm, and his fraternal grandfather “Papa” inspired his love of riding and training horses.

Growing up, his only 2 cousins (Ashley & Kinsley) were as close as sisters. Ashley, the closest to him in age, joined right in on all of Tyler’s adventures, mostly at the risk of her own safety. He graduated in 2008 from Chilton County High School, where he excelled in his studies, served as a leader of the student government and the President of the FFA, and made plenty of time (and skipped more than a few classes) for hunting and fishing with his friends. He immensely enjoyed his years as a high school athlete, standing out as a catcher, a quarterback, and a shooting guard. Following high school, Tyler became a Mississippi State Bulldog, studied Animal and Dairy Sciences, roped on the rodeo team, and fell in love with his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Emme) Andrews. They were married on May 31, 2014, and spent the following 4 years cheering on the bulldogs and competing with their horses while Emme completed veterinary school.

They moved to Germantown, TN in 2018 where he enjoyed his job as an Animal Research Supervisor for UT Health Science Center, while hustling after-hours to grow his dream of cattle ranching. Tyler’s faith in Jesus was strengthened and enriched through the men and ministry of Downline and Harvest Church, where he served as a member. On March 31, 2020, Tyler and Mary Elizabeth welcomed their daughter, Elizabeth Charlotte (Elsie) Patterson. Shortly after, on January 10, 2022, they welcomed their son, John Brandon (JB) Patterson. Tyler tenderly engaged and cherished Emme and their children, and kindly served his family and friends in every regard.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth, daughter Elsie, son JB, parents Becky and Derick, grandmothers Peggy Johnson and Sandra Patterson, Aunt (who cared cared for him like her own) Gay Patterson, Uncle Shane Patterson, cousins Ashley Northcutt (Hunter, children Heidi and Ella) and Kinsley Summerlin, parents in-law Rad and Maureen Andrews, brothers in law Chuck Andrews (Lydia), Cobb Andrews (Rachel), Stephen Andrews (Angela), Walter Andrews (Haley), David, and Drews, sister-in-law Sarah Smith (Hunter), nephews Darby, Hudson, Russell, Whitt, Radford, James, Ryder, Knox, Will, Walker, Harrison, Hayes, Bennett, Thompson, and Ford, nieces Brooks, Claire, Caroline, Abigail, Lucy Walt, Ellett, Harper, Allie, and Avery. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Johnny Johnson and Crayton Patterson.

Please join us in celebrating Tyler’s life. A visitation will be held at Harvest Church on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with the service immediately following. Harvest Church: 3645 Forest Hill Irene Road, Germantown, TN 38138

A funeral service will be held in Clanton, AL on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 2:00pm from West End Baptist Church located at 2005 2nd Ave. N. Clanton, AL 35045. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

A private family graveside will follow.

The family strongly asks that those interested in making a lasting memorial would consider investing in Elsie and JB’s education. See the following links located at the bottom of this memorial page or under the donation tab at the top of this memorial page.
